Executive Board Meeting
SIR Branch 19
January 7, 2016
SIR Bruce Person Called the meeting to order at 10:00a.m. A quorum was present.
ATTENDANCE: Sir’s in attendance were: B. Persons, J. Carl Sr., K. Kuhn, D. Diamond, B. Silberman, R. Peterson, D. Williams, R. Cashion, K. Peterson, J. Fernando, J. Barnaba, J. Duncan, J.Wolfe, J. Burton, B. Theobald, J. Dorsett, M. Mills and L. Kolano.
MINUTES: The Executive Board Meeting minutes from November 2015 were approved.
MEMBERSHIP REPORT: Sir Peterson reported that current membership was 123 with 7 inactive. There are 4 new members to be inducted today. There are at least 3 new members expected at the February meeting. We have 3 quests attending today’s luncheon.
ATTENDANCE REPORT: Sir Cashion reported he received 15 messages from the hot line. All were excused. 108 lunches were ordered for today’s luncheon.
TREASURE’S REPORT: Sir Kuhn reported that total funds in the branch general account are $5,303.46 with an additional $692.02 in the bowling account and $2,958.99 in the Golf account. For the entire year the general account balance increased by $600.00. Motion to accept the report was seconded and approved. Our financial audit committee will be Bill Schoonover and Steve Hansen for this years audit.
BIG SIR REPORT: Sir Persons:
Selection of SIR of the Year – Discussion about how to pursue it this year included having the members vote by ballot, with the ability to add names to the ballot. Discussion tabled to next meeting where the nominating committee will report on it.
RAMP Committee assignments were made which included: Chairman – John Carl, Recruitment – John Carl, Activities – Jack Barnaba, Membership- Ken Peterson, Publicity – Bernie Theobald.
Special thanks given to Sir Theobald for all of the news releases, of our SIR activities, he has gotten into the local papers. Sir Theobald talked about the value of using the independent newspapers for our press releases.
A recruiting table at IN-SHAPE and BIG C will continue to be manned in our efforts to find new members. Sir Vogt brought up the idea of putting the recruiting table in our local bowling alleys.
Activities of the branch were listed and discussed and two were added, coed-golf and 9 hole golf. All of the Branch activities for 2016 were approved by a motion that was seconded and voted on by the BEC.
A Bocce lunch day trip to a Restaurant/Bocce facility in Livermore is in the planning stages and more will be reported on it at the next meeting.
Bowling reported that the Clayton Valley bowl will let us pass out SIR recruiting materials there.
Golf reported that a new schedule for 18 hole events in 2016 is now out.
Sir Brunner is taking over the Dining Out duties until a new chairman is found. His first dining out will be at the Buttercup restaurant.
Hiking group will restart their outdoors events when the weather gets better and it will be promoted on the website.
Our Newsletter will need a new chairman after this year. Our activity chairmen should promote their events through the newsletter.
Wine tasting will have an event in January.
Our webmaster reported that our number 1 viewing country after the US last month was Russia.
Sir Kolano reported that SIR Ed Benson (Regional Director) has asked that all Branches attend the SIR Area Focus meetings that are being held this year.
Sir Wolfe asked for feedback on our speakers program and any suggestions on improving or adding to them.
Discussion took place on picking up the badges/name tags during our luncheons and it was decided to keep the existing process in place.
