Executive Board Meeting
SIR Branch 19
July 7, 2016

Sir Bruce Persons called the meeting to order at 10:00a.m. A quorum was present.

ATTENDANCE: Sir’s in attendance were: B. Persons, J. Carl Sr., K. Kuhn, D. Diamond, R. Peterson, J. Barnaba, R. Cashion, J. Fernando, J. Burton, J. Duncan, J.Wolfe, J. Dorsett, M. Mills, B. Theobald, G. Vogt, B. Stevenson and L. Kolano.

MINUTES: The Executive Board Meeting minutes from June 2016 were approved.

TREASURE’S REPORT: Sir Kuhn reported that total funds in the branch general account are $4,407.31 with an additional $692.14 in the bowling account and $2381.64 in the golf account. This brought us to a total for the branch of $7,731.09.

MEMBERSHIP REPORT: Sir K. Peterson reported that our current membership is 131 with 3 inactive. The inactive members are Bill Stricker, Dennis Webb and Jerry Fitzmaurice. Two members have been dropped do to attendance issues, Larry Bock and Robert Campos. Our median age has increased to 73.

ATTENDANCE REPORT: Sir Cashion reported he received 31 Goggle voice messages from the hot line. We have 30 excused today. A total of 92 lunches were ordered for today’s luncheon. We will have 13 tables for a seating of 104. Sir Persons will be bringing Dennis Alumbaugh as a quest today.

BIG SIR REPORT: Sir Persons:

Sir Persons reported that Sir Lorentzen turned 90 in June. A Senior Sir Certificate will be presented at the luncheon to him today. We got an email from Sir Dill, State President that Sir George Garcia has been accepted as an HLM. His certificate will be presented at the August meeting.

SIR Stevenson reported that we have the Concord Community Park reserved for our Picnic on Thursday, September 15th, 1PM – 5PM. SIR Duncan will be working on the raffle for the Picnic. He is looking for donations for the raffle. The food menu has been set and includes BBQ Brisket and Chicken. The price for the Picnic was approved by the board and will be $23 per person.

Little SIR REPORT: Sir Carl:
Today’s luncheon speaker will be Guy Bjerke, Director of Community Reuse Planning City of Concord. He’s responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Reuse Area Plan for the redevelopment of the former Concord Naval Weapons Station. Sir Carl thanked Sir Wolf for getting Mr Bjerke as our speaker this month.

Activities REPORT:

Sir Theobald talked about news releases which could include pictures of our State Golf Scramble qualifiers.

Sir Barnaba asked for ideas as to activities we could do with our wife’s. Sir Theobald talked about the possibility of a North Beach walking tour along with a lunch at a Cannoli restaurant afterwards. He will continue to work on this tour for possibly in October and could have a price on it for the next BEC meeting.

Sir Duncan talked about the details on the Fried Chicken and Bingo night at the Oakhurst Clubhouse on Wednesday July 20. We now have 44 signed up at a cost that will be $30 per person or $60 for a couple. We will need the monies by July 10th to pay Oakhurst. Many prizes are being put together for the Bingo part of the night. All the event information was posted in the July newsletter.

Sir Fernando reported that there has been talk about including other branches in our Bocce season. We could have challenge matches with them which could include a joint lunch.

Sir Burton talked about the two man best ball tournament in August and play at Oakhurst scheduled for the 25th of July.

Dining out this month will be skipped due to the Fried Chicken and Bingo night at Oakhurst.

Membership Committee REPORT:

The membership committee reported that for 2016, Sir Barnaba will be assuming the position of Big Sir and our Little Sir Carl will remain in that position. Sir Theobald will assume Sir Barnaba’s Activity chairman position. Sunshine chairman will be taken over by Sir Vogt with Sir Ken Peterson assisting him. Sir Persons and Sir Kuhn talked about the need for a new Newsletter chairman.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:47.
