Executive Board Meeting
SIR Branch 19
August 4, 2016
Sir Bruce Persons called the meeting to order at 10:00a.m. A quorum was present.
ATTENDANCE: Sir’s in attendance were: B. Persons, J. Carl Sr., K. Kuhn, D. Diamond, B. Silberman, R. Peterson, J. Barnaba, R. Cashion, K. Peterson, J. Fernando, J. Burton, J. Duncan, J. Dorsett, M. Mills, B. Theobald, T. Dobbs, G. Vogt, and B. Stevenson.
MINUTES: The Executive Board Meeting minutes from July 2016 were approved.
TREASURE’S REPORT: Sir Kuhn reported that total funds in the branch general account are $4,457.35 with an additional $692.16 in the bowling account and $3,982.74 in the golf account. This brought us to a total for the branch of $9,382.25.
MEMBERSHIP REPORT: Sir K. Peterson reported that our current membership is 129 with 3 inactive. The inactive members are Bill Stricker, Dennis Webb and Jerry Fitzmaurice. One member Gregg Manning has resigned as he is moving out of the state. Our median age has stayed at 73. Dennis Alumbaugh will become a new member today. Guests today are Bruce Wolf brought by John Wolf and Ron Caribou brought by Chuck Rogers.
ATTENDANCE REPORT: Sir Cashion reported he received 30 Goggle voice messages from the hot line. We have 30 members excused today. A total of 94 lunches were ordered for today’s luncheon. We will have 13 tables for a seating of 104.
BIG SIR REPORT: Sir Persons:
A Travel Chairman has been recruited for our BEC who is fairly new to SIR’s Ted Dobbs. Sir R. Peterson spoke to the reason he helped recruit Sir Dobbs for this position and why he will make an excellent Travel Chairman. Sir Persons then nominated Sir Dobbs for Travel Chairman and the board accepted him. Welcome to the BEC Sir Dobbs.
Sir Persons spoke to the need to keep our webmaster Sir Mills updated on branch activities so the website can be kept up to date. He also commended Sir Mills for the excellent job he is doing on it.
SIR Persons just attended the SIR State Corporation meeting hosted by SIR President Don Dill. At the meeting our branch was awarded a President’s certificate of success. In the certificate are our BEC was thanked for supporting the RAMP program. Sir Persons then talked about the RAMP program and why we are seeing benefits from it. Sir Persons gave a big hand to Sir Theobald for his efforts in publicity and marketing that have helped us greatly. SIR President Dill then spoke about the State recruitment video that we can add to our branch website. Sir Theobald and Sir Mills along with Big Sir Persons will work on a committee to get the State recruitment video up and running for our Branch’s use.
Little SIR REPORT: Sir Carl:
Sir Carl spoke about the branch efforts with the RAMP program.
Today’s luncheon speaker will be Dick Callahan who is a highly respected public address announcer and civic leader. Sports organizations who have used his talents include St Marys College, Golden State Warriors, Oakland Athletics and the Cal Berkeley Bears. Next month Sir Wolf has recruited the author Marty Brounstein to speak at our September luncheon.
Sir Theobald talked about news releases which could include pictures of our State Golf Scramble qualifiers. Sir Theobald continues to work for new opportunities to publicize in the local papers. Pickleball was then discussed as the city of Concord has developed 14 courts and we could make it an activity for our members and spouses.
Sir Stevenson talked about the branch picnic in September. Everything is on track and monies are being collected from the member for their tickets to attend it.
Sir Barnaba said he was beginning work on the annual Christmas party for December. A discussion ensued about the entertainment and Sir Theobald was asked about his musical talents being added to this years function.
Sir Theobald brought up the possibility of a train trip overnight-er to Reno later this year or next.
Dining out this month will be on August 18 at Tahoe Joe’s in Concord.
The membership committee reported that for 2016, Sir Diamond will be assuming the position of Treasurer and Sir Kuhn will become an assistant Treasurer.
