Executive Board Meeting
SIR Branch 19
September 1, 2016
Sir Bruce Persons called the meeting to order at 10:00a.m. A quorum was present.
ATTENDANCE: Sir’s in attendance were: B. Persons, J. Carl Sr., D. Diamond, B. Silberman, R. Peterson, J. Barnaba, R. Cashion, K. Peterson, J. Wolfe, J. Burton, J. Duncan, J. Dorsett, M. Kropf, M. Mills, K. Peterson, B. Theobald, T. Dobbs, G. Vogt, K. Kolano and B. Stevenson.
MINUTES: The Executive Board Meeting minutes from August 2016 were approved.
TREASURE’S REPORT: Sir Diamond reported that total funds in the branch account are $5257.00. with an additional $692.16 in the bowling account and $2975.00 in the golf account. This brought us to a total for the branch of $9,173.00.
MEMBERSHIP REPORT: Sir K. Peterson reported that our current membership is 129 with 3 inactive. The inactive members are Bill Stricker, Dennis Webb and Jerry Fitzmaurice. Mark Blackshire has been taken off the roster this month. Our median age has stayed at 73. Guests today are John Kelly brought by Sir Vogt, Bob Lively brought by Sir Priest and Paul Ferry brought by Sir R. Peterson.
ATTENDANCE REPORT: Sir Cashion reported he received 30 Goggle voice messages from the hot line. We have 30 members excused today. A total of 97 lunches were ordered for today’s luncheon.
BIG SIR REPORT: Sir Persons:
Sir Persons began with a discussion about the new Sir State Recruitment video that we can add to our Branch website. There was immediate concerns expressed that the video has introductions from members from branches other than our own. Sir Persons then talked about adding and/or replacing the pictures and videos of non members with our own. Sir Persons has a contact that can make the changes to the recruitment video as we decide best. Additionally there will be no cost to the branch to make these changes. After much discussion it was decided that we would move forward with the recruitment video as proposed by Sir Persons.
Sir Persons then talked about the HLM certificate that was given to Sir G. Garcia last month. It was not the actual certificate but a replica that was presented by Sir President Dill last month. The actual HLM certificate has arrived and will be passed on to Sir Garcia during the luncheon today.
Little SIR REPORT: Sir Carl:
Sir Carl spoke about the branch work with the RAMP program. Everyone is contributing with their efforts to it and progress is being made.
Today’s luncheon speaker will be Marty Brounstein. For nearly 25 years Marty Brounstein has run a management and organizational consulting firm in the San Francisco Bay Area called The Practical Solutions Group. Through this work, he has written eight books related to business management, from contributing author to sole author. Today he will be talking about his 9th book. Next month speaker will be Tim Clement, Executive Director, Save Mount Diablo.
Sir Theobald talked about news releases which could include pictures of our branch leadership. Sir Theobald continues to look for new opportunities to increase awareness levels in the community for SIRS and our Branch.
Sir Owens was then introduced by Sir Persons. The BEC was informed that Sir Owens has volunteered to be our new Recruitment Chairman. Sir Owens talked about his work history in law enforcement and his pass Big Sir leadership position. Sir Owens expressed his desire to promote our branch by talking up our activities to the many retirees he meets. Welcome to the BEC Sir Owens.
Sir Barnaba said he was continuing work on the annual Christmas party for December’s luncheon. He is working with Oakhurst to come up with a cost per member plus spouses.
Sir Theobald reported on his efforts in getting Pickleball as a new activity for the branch. The new Pickleball courts are now open in Concord. He will be working with the City of Concord to arrange a series of lessons for both our branch members and their spouses. Sir Theobald emphasized that this will be a coed activity for our branch. He then talked about the Fall Bocce Outing that will take place at the Clayton Ipsen Family Bocce Courts. The date is Thursday October 20th 10:00 till Noon. A luncheon will follow at one of the Clayton Restaurants.
Sir Burton talked about the need for a new coed golf chairman. Several names were brought up for further consideration.
Sir Duncan talked about the Branch Picnic this month. We need more members to signup so the Picnic will be promoted at today’s luncheon.
Dining out this month has been cancelled because of the Picnic.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:50.
