Executive Board Meeting
SIR Branch 19
September 7, 2017
Sir Jack Barnaba called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. A quorum was present.
ATTENDANCE: Sir’s in attendance were: J. Barnaba, J. Carl Sr., R. Peterson, D. Williams, D. Diamond, B. Silberman, K. Kuhn, G. Vogt, J. Burton, T. Dobbs, J. Fernando, J. Duncan, R. FCashion, J. Wolfe, A. Owens, M. Mills, L. Kolano, B. Persons, R. Crabaugh, D. Requa, L kolano, B. Stephenson and B. Theobald.
MINUTES: The Executive Board Meeting minutes from August 2017 were approved.
TREASURE’S REPORT: Sir Diamond reported that total funds in the branch account are $4,335.77, with an additional $675.04 in the bowling account and $2,527.16 in the golf account. That brings us to a total for the branch of $7,787.97. Sir Diamond reported that we had the largest profit from last month’s luncheon that he has counted so far. Eight members who called in sick showed up and eight members paid for having missed other luncheons without calling in first.
MEMBERSHIP REPORT: Sir Kuhn reported that our total membership this month is 126. Two members were dropped this month which included Dennis Alumbaugh who resigned. We have two new members this month, Tim Sites and Bob Hillacker. Median age for the branch is 73. We have no guests invited to this months luncheon.
ATTENDANCE REPORT: Sir Duncan reported we had 20 excused call in’s plus 6 late calls for today’s luncheon. There were 95 meals ordered for members which included 3 for possible quests. Dining tables ordered for today total 11.
BIG SIR REPORT: Sir Barnaba:
Sir Barnaba first introduced Jerry Strain, our State President, who is attending today’s luncheon so he can present Sir Milt Momita with the HLM award.
Sir Barnaba began by talking about the SIR State Annual Meeting that he attended last month in Sacramento. The 2018 candidates elected for President was Derek Southern and the Vice President was Ed Benson. Bill Holly who has been our Area Governor will be stepping up into Ed Benson’s Region Director position for 2018.
New SIR license plate holders were introduced by SIR Barnanba to the BEC. After some discussion It was voted by the BEC to purchase 50 from the state for our Branch’s distribution to members. They will be distributed to our members as a possible reward for services or to be bought by members at the cost of $2.00 each.
Our annual Picnic will be on Thursday September 21st starting at 11:00. We currently have 48 signups and are goal is 80 attendees for this years Picnic. Sir Barnaba said that there would be a Picnic work team meeting right after the BEC meeting today. Kinders has been confirmed to be our food caterer for this year.
Sir Barnaba talked about RAMP and our need for a Publicity chairman as Sir Theobald will be leaving in October. Sir Theobald indicated that he would attempt to find a replacement for his position this month. SIR Linster was mentioned as one possibility for the Publicity chairman position. Sir Kuhn was then told that SIR Crabaugh would be taking over as Membership chairman in 2018. Sir Barnaba indicated that he would head the Nominating committee in 2018 and would include past Branch Big Sirs in it.
State Branch leadership annual training has been scheduled and we will attend the sessions on Friday October 13th at Rossmoor. Morning sessions will be for Branch officer training. Afternoon sessions will be for RAMP and Nominating committee training.
Sir Barnaba reported that Sir Duncan and he will be meeting with Oakhurst today to set the final luncheon prices for next year. Also the Christmas luncheon costs will be discussed today with Oakhurst. The possibility of raising our luncheon costs for next year to $25 will be tabled till our October BEC meeting.
Sir Vogt reported that he will be collecting members military service information today for use in our November Veterans luncheon.
Little SIR REPORT: Sir Carl:
This month’s luncheon speaker is Carolyn Paulson RN, former employee of the John Muir Diabetes Center. Next month’s speaker will be Frank Allocco who is a former Coach, Camp Director, Athlete and Writer. November’s luncheon will be a Veterans Appreciation day event.
Sir Fernando reported that this is the last week of Bocce competition.
Sir Carl reported that our bowling group will have Sir Kropf speak at the luncheon on up coming bowling events.
Sir Burton reported match play has finished and Sir Kolano was the winner for 2017. In October our golf club championship will take place at Lone Tree GC over three rounds there.
Sir Duncan talked about the Fried Chicken Bingo Night set for October 25th at Oakhurst. Flyers will be put on the tables today. Sir Duncan will talk about it at our luncheon.
Sir Peterson reported that there will be a Wine Tasting on Friday September 29th. Sir Weimann is back and will be taking sign-ups today for this event.
Sir Barnaba brought up the Christmas luncheon in December. He said that we will attempt to get the Clayton Valley High Choir back, as they did a great performance last year. Also we will get a Christmas luncheon work committee going in October.
