Hiking the impressive Donner Pass area at 7,000 feet in the Sierra in August 2016. The temperature was a comfortable 10 -15 degrees lower at this altitude compared to the hot 95 degree weather at the time in the East Bay area below! We enjoyed a 6 1/2 mile day hike with a number of helpful switch backs to moderate the elevation climb. Along the trail we came across several beautiful hidden and refreshing alpine mountain lakes allowing for some well-earned rest and relaxation along our route.
